The Butcher

My name is Chris and after a lifetime of being nicknameless, I earned the name "The Butcher" from a nickname prone boss.  I thought it sounded cool and dangerous - something I've never been. I later realized it sounded kind of manly.  That is the story of my life.

This is my passport photo.  Unfortunately it is pretty accurate.

This blog is just one of several ways that I am trying to learn about social media in many of its most popular forms.

I also have an Etsy store here: etsy.com/SockMonkeysAndBacon
This is my mascot who was designed by my friend Heather and I love him so much!  I started selling things on Etsy as a way to get rid of the vintage stash I'd had for over twenty years yet never found its way out of the boxes in the basement.  It was also a way to earn a few bucks after taking my girls to see Green Day's American Idiot on Broadway on a whim and charging up way more on my credit card than I should have because I love Green Day and my daughters just that much.  I also started selling hand knit bacon scarfs and used some of the proceeds to raise money for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.  Then I started knitting all sorts of things in my spare time.  My latest is a Zombie Sock Monkey who I would like to sell, but just haven't gotten around to listing him.  I am also working on a Cremaster Monkey who will look like a sock monkey version of this guy.  To learn more about Matthew Barney and his Cremaster cycle go here http://www.cremaster.net/ and prepare to have your mind blown.

I also have a facebook fan page SockMonkeysAndBacon.  Please visit and "like" me because I am just that needy.

Follow me too on twitter @ChristineAtWFOH because again, I am needy and crave attention.

Oddy enough, for someone trying to improve her chances in a future job market, you would think my LinkedIn page would be in better shape than it is.  I will post a link just as soon as it it fit for public display, but today is not that day.

  1. Ah! Here's the shop name I was looking for. And a fan page even! off to like that one. Glad you embraced your manly nickname. My former boss called me quirky, and that became the personality behind my etsy shop.

  2. Glad you found this. I truly believe that if you were born with the creativity gene, it just has to come out somewhere!
